Closed areas: Increased visitation - Possible closures on busy days
Royal National Park can be extremely busy over the summer holiday period. Popular visitor areas may close to vehicles once they become full or in the event of an emergency.
Areas that may be close when carparks are full include:

• Wattamolla Beach and picnic area
• Garie Beach and picnic area
• Garawarra Farm carpark (including carpark for Figure 8 Pools)
• Bonnie Vale picnic area
• Audley

Other planned events: Increased visitation and COVID-19 guidelines
This is a popular location and will close at short notice if it is no longer possible to ensure COVID safe distancing guidelines.
We encourage you to be prepared and:

• Plan your visit outside of the peak periods of 11am to 2pm
• Explore lesser-known spots
• Check this alert before leaving home and again before arriving at the park
• Complete camping bookings online prior to your arrival, and
• Be prepared to move on if it is no longer possible for you to maintain a COVID safe distance from other visitors.

Closed areas: Bonnie Vale coastal repairs
Coastal repairs are happening to the north-west section of Bonnie Vale campground to stabilise scouring. The track between Maianbar and Bonnie Vale through the campground is open to pedestrians. Please stay on the track and do not enter the campground.

Closed areas: Ironbark Flat picnic area closed for landscape upgrade
Ironbark Flat will be undergoing landscape upgrades including new turf and installation of an irrigation system. The grassed area will be closed during this period. The visitor centre, Audley Dance Hall Café and toilets remain open. For more information, please visit the Audley precinct upgrades webpage.

Closed areas: Audley boatshed
The Audley boatshed will be undergoing important conservation and repair works. Boat hire will be suspended and the building and immediate surrounding area will be closed during this period.

Safety alerts: Audley precinct in wet weather
Access across the Audley Weir may be closed due to river flooding during times of wet weather. During wet weather, NPWS advise park visitors to visit Live Traffic NSW to ascertain the status of the Weir crossing before commencing their travel to the park. During times of closure, access to Bundeena, Maianbar residential areas, Royal National Park Visitor Centre, including the Audley Dance hall and cafe, is via McKell Ave Waterfall.
