Lane Cove National Park
This small but picturesque city park is a haven of peaceful bushland along the winding Lane Cove River. Home to the Kukundi Wildlife Shelter and 27 km of the Great North Walk, you can also hire a boat, take a stroll or enjoy a picnic by the weir.

Lane Cove National Park is a popular location and will close at short notice if needed to ensure visitation levels to not exceed safe capacity required by COVID social distancing guidelines.
We encourage you to:
- Plan your visit outside of peak periods of 10am to 2pm.
- Be prepared to move on if it is no longer possible for you to maintain a COVID-safe distance from other visitors. It is your responsibility to leave the area. Do not wait to be instructed by NPWS or police.
From Friday 23 October 2020, the maximum group size for an outdoor gathering will be increasing from 20 to 30 people, including children. Groups are still expected to maintain social distancing and good hygiene.
The closure of toilets and other facilities will be decided on a case-by-case basis. Necessary site assessments will take place to consider the management of health and safety risk to visitors and staff, and available resourcing to maintain facilities. Access to sanitation products and running water cannot be guaranteed. We recommend bringing hand soap, hand wipes and toilet paper with you to maintain good hygiene
as advised by the NSW Government.

Lane Cove Depot Road in Lane Cove National Park will be closed from Monday 16 April 2020 until further notice while the road is being upgraded to improve safety for road users. During this time vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians are not permitted to use the road.

Material containing asbestos has been confirmed as present in Lane Cove National Park, in the area between Downes Street and Malton Road, North Epping. NPWS is actively managing the asbestos risk. The area is closed until further notice.

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service will be conducting a baiting program in Lane Cove National Park between Saturday 1 August 2020 and Sunday 31 January 2021. The program involves the use of manufactured baits, fresh baits and Canid Pest Ejectors (CPEs) containing 1080 poison (sodium fluroacetate) for the control of foxes. The program is continuous and ongoing . Don’t touch baits or ejector devices.
All baiting locations are signposted.
Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW national parks and reserves. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.

Some toilets within this park will be closed during the week, opening only on weekends, public holidays and during school holidays. The closed toilets are at:
- Blue Wren and Illoura (Areas 4-5)
- Carters Creek (Area 9)
- Scribbly Gums (Area 17)
- Bakers Flat (Area 28)
- Haynes Flat (Area 32)
