Lane Cove National Park
This small but picturesque city park is a haven of peaceful bushland along the winding Lane Cove River. Home to the Kukundi Wildlife Shelter and 27 km of the Great North Walk, you can also hire a boat, take a stroll or enjoy a picnic by the weir.

Closed areas: Lane Cove National Park closed to vehicles over Easter
Lane Cove National Park will be closed to vehicles this Easter, from Friday 10 April to Monday 13 April 2020, to protect the health and safety of our visitors and staff. The park will remain open to pedestrians and cyclists so that local residents can exercise. Visitors are reminded that non-essential travel is currently not permitted
. If your planned visit is for a purpose other than exercise, you should reconsider your plans as you may be in breach of the current public health orders
. If you arrive at a national park and it is too crowded to practice social distancing, it is your responsibility to leave the area. Do not wait to be instructed by NPWS or police.
Many high visitation areas and facilities in Lane Cove National Park are also closed until further notice to protect the health and safety of our visitors and staff. These closed areas and facilities include:
- All picnic shelters and barbecue facilities (including picnic tables)
- Jenkins Hill playground and Kukundi playground
- Haynes Flat and Carter Creek toilets
- Lane Cove Boatshed
Riverside walk will remain closed until further notice while staff work to fix extensive flood damage, erosion and unsafe conditions.
Lane Cove Holiday Park is unable to accommodate any camping, including caravans and motor-homes. Staying in cabins is still permitted. Call Lane Cove Holiday Park on 02 9888 9133.
The closure of toilets and other facilities will be decided on a case-by-case basis, with necessary site assessments considering the management of health and safety risk to visitors and staff, as well as available resourcing to maintain facilities. Access to sanitation products and running water cannot be guaranteed. We recommend bringing hand soap, hand wipes and toilet paper with you to maintain good hygiene
as advised by the NSW Government.

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service is doing 1080 ground baiting using manufactured and fresh baits in Lane Cove National Park.
The program is continuous and ongoing between 1 February 2020 and 31 July 2020. All baiting locations will be identifiable by signs. Don’t touch baits. Penalties apply for non-compliance
Please be reminded that domestic pets are not permitted on NPWS estate. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.
Fox baiting in these reserves is aimed at reducing their impact on threatened species.

Closed areas: Lane Cove National Park toilet closures
From Monday 7 December 2015, some toilets within this park will be closed during the week, opening only on weekends and public holidays. Toilets affected are:
- Blue Wren and Illoura (Areas 4-5)
- Carters Creek (Area 9)
- Scribbly Gums (Area 17)
- Bakers Flat (Area 28)
- Haynes Flat (Area 32)
