Closed areas: Yarrangobilly Caves precinctThe following areas remain
open to the public:
- Yarrangobilly Caves Visitor Centre
- Yarrangobilly Caves thermal pool walk and pool area
- South Glory Cave (self-guided)
- Castle Cave walk
- Jillabenan Cave (guided cave)
- Bluff lookout walk
- The picnic area, barbecue area, toilets and amenities
There will be short delays on the Yarrangobilly Caves entrance road from 10 April 2021 - 20 April 2021 due to infrastructure works. Please drive safely and follow the directions of signs and staff. For more information, contact the local NPWS office.
The following caves remain
closed to the public until further notice:
- Jersey Cave
- North Glory Cave (available for large group bookings only)
- Castle Cave
- Harrie Wood Cave

Jillabenan Cave will be closed from 19 April 2021 to 23 April 2021 for urgent cleaning and maintenance. Guided tours of Jersey Cave will be available to purchase from the Yarrangobilly Caves Visitor Centre.
Recreational caving is now permitted with a COVID-19 Safety Plan. Permits will only be issued to compliant recreational groups.
All accommodation bookings are now open and can be
booked in advance:
- Lyrebird Cottage is available for the public to book
- Yarrangobilly Cave House 1901 East and West wings are available for the public to book
- Yarrangobilly Caves House 1917 guest rooms are available for bookings from May 2021

Other incidents: Caution - trail repair work on Round Mountain trailHeavy machinery is operating on the Round Mountain and Farm Ridge trails to complete trail repairs. The Round Mountain carpark is the base of operations for this work. Please do not enter the work site. New parking has been designated for visitor parking and is signposted. Bushwalkers, please be cautious and keep a safe distance from machinery when accessing the area.
The Khancoban to Kiandra road will have increased heavy vehicle traffic (between Khancoban and Round Mountain carpark) for the duration of these works. Please drive to the conditions.

Closed areas: Bicentennial National Trail partial closureThe section of Bicentennial National Trail between Geehi and Waterfall Farm is closed. The closure is due to maintenance works on Geehi Walls trail. This closure may be extended, and extensions will be posted as soon as possible.

Closed areas: Bullocks Huts- Kosciuszko National ParkBullocks hut will be closed for a number of weeks for important historic conservation works . There is no set date for the completion of the work.
Closed areas: Closed areas in Kosciuszko National ParkA number of visitor facilities, attractions and sites in Kosciuszko National Park remain closed or may have other restrictions until further notice. This includes a number of areas closed due to recent bushfires.
Some NPWS campgrounds and accommodation will need to remain closed. If you plan to stay at an NPWS campground that is
open you'll need to make a booking first. This applies to campgrounds that did not require bookings previously. If you can't find your preferred Kosciuszko National Park campground on a webpage, check this
list of lesser-known campgrounds in Kosciuszko National Park and make your booking from there. If you're still unable to find your preferred campground phone 1300 072 757.
Fire-affected areas
Some sections of Kosciuszko National Park which have been burnt remain closed. This is because they still may pose a risk to visitors due to dangerous trees and damaged infrastructure.
Specific areas which are closed due to the fires include:
- Areas within the park:
- Selwyn Snow Resort
- Kiandra Court House
- Wolgal Hut
- Buddong Falls
- Bradley/O'Briens Hut, Brooks Hut, Delaneys Hut, 4 Mile Hut, Happy's Hut, Harveys Hut, Linesman's No.3 Huts, Round Mountain Hut, Sawyers Hut, Vickeries Hut
- Cabramurra township. Snowy Hydro's operational town suffered significant fire damage and, for safety reasons, is temporarily closed.
- Selwyn Snow Resort is in the process of rebuilding after the fire damage and is currently a construction site. For safety, public access to this area is strictly prohibited and all signage in this area must be followed.
The following key roads in Kosciuszko National Park are closed due to fire damage:
- Alpine Way area:
- Murray Gates trail
- Major Clews fire trail
- Geehi Walls trail
- Cabramurra area (Currently closed until fire damage repair works completed)
- Elliott Way (Expected to open late April 2021)
- Tumut Ponds trail
- Kings Cross Road from the Kings Cross Road and Link Road intersection to Selwyn Resort (Expected to open 1st June 2021)
Tantangara Road and Tantangara Dam access - Snowy 2.0 works
- Tantangara Road may be subject to short closures between Snowy Mountains Highway and the gate below Tantangara Reservoir Wall for maintenance and upgrade works. These closures are required to allow for upgrades to Tantangara Road as part of the Snowy 2.0 project. The schedule of closures is subject to design and construction programs yet to be finalised. Please check for alert updates a week before travel.
- Wares Yards campground will remain open during road works.
- Access to the southern end of Tantangara via Quarry trail will be closed to the public.
- Access to the southern end boat ramp is open but maybe subject to short term closures.
- Current boating and camping access to Tantangara Reservoir will still be available at access points on the northern end of the reservoir, via Port Phillip and Dam trails.
- Access to Currango and Old Camp will remain open, with access via Port Phillip or Tantangara Road.
Do not enter closed areas in Kosciuszko National Park.

Other planned events: Fox Control ProgramNSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) will be conducting a baiting program using meat baits containing 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of foxes. The program will be undertaken adjoining Thredbo, Charlotte Pass, Perisher and Guthega, including the main range track, and along Schlinks Pass from Saturday 20th March until Tuesday 20th April. All baiting locations will be identifiable by signs.
Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW national parks and reserves. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.

Other planned events: Increased traffic in northern Kosciuszko National ParkThere is an increase in heavy vehicle and light vehicle movements on the Snowy Mountains Highway (between Cooma to Tumut), Link Road and Tantangara Road within Kosciuszko National Park. This traffic will continue for a number of years and is associated with the Snowy 2.0 project and other projects in the region.
Your destination is still accessible and to assist in planning your journey safely and to avoid stress, please allow extra time in your travel plans and drive to the conditions.

Closed areas: Closed areas due to Snowy 2.0 worksSome areas of this park are closed due to the Snowy 2.0 works from Monday 25 February 2019, unless the closure is otherwise extended or removed. The closed areas are:
- Lobs Hole Ravine Road 4wd trail
- Wallace Creek lookout
- Lobs Hole Ravine campground

Other planned events: Short delays due to helicopter operationsYou may experience short delays across the Main Range, Charlotte Pass, Perisher and Guthega precincts from January 2021 to April 2021. Helicopter operations will be underway as part of walking track construction projects.

Other incidents: Caution - urgent track repair work underwayRecent storms have impacted Main Range and have caused significant damage to sections of Main Range walking track. The impacted areas are from Charlottes Pass to Blue Lake, with large washouts between Soil Con Creek and Blue Lake lookout. Muellers Pass has also been affected.
Heavy machinery will be operating in these areas to complete urgent repair work to the tracks. Bushwalkers, please be cautious when in these areas.
Other planned events: Notice of ongoing 1080 wild dog and fox baiting programNSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) will be conducting a baiting program using meat baits and canid pest ejectors containing 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of wild dog and foxes. The program will be continuous and ongoing between Friday 13th November 2020 and Wednesday 12th May 2021 in the following parks and reserves:
- The north east precinct of Kosciuszko National Park (within the Adaminaby/Yaouk wild dog control area)
- Yaouk Nature Reserve
- Scabby Range Nature Reserve
All baiting locations will be identifiable by signs.
Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW national parks and reserves. Pets and working dogs may be affected, and 1080 is lethal to cats and dogs. Pets and working dogs in the vicinity must be restrained or muzzled and must not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.

Closed areas: Tantangara Mountain Hut (Harveys Hut)Tantangara Mountain Hut (Harveys Hut) is closed for visitor use due to fire damage.
Safety alerts: Hannels Spur track - difficult to followHannels Spur track is difficult to follow and only suitable for experienced walkers. The track has been cleared but marking has not bee completed. Maintenance work is ongoing. For winter periods most of the higher altitude sections will be covered in snow.

Other planned events: 1080 Baiting ProgramsNSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) conducts ongoing and seasonal 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) baiting programs in areas of Kosciuszko National Park. These programs are part of an integrated pest management strategy aimed at controlling wild dogs, foxes, feral pigs and rabbits. All baiting locations are identifiable to the public through signage erected around the baited area.
Domestic pets are highly susceptible to 1080 poison. Park visitors are reminded that dogs, cats and other pets and domestic animals (other than certified assistance animals) are not permitted in Kosciuszko National Park.
